Anapaests

Anapaests, like their name,

     Have a musical beat
As they glide on the page

     On their two dancing feet.

Anapaests sing a song:

     Diddy DUM diddy DUM

And now listen: they sound

Like the beat of a drum.

Anapaests waltz along

Through the words on your page
And they’re good for we poets,

      Whatever our age.

An-a-PAESTS,  an-a-PAESTS!

     What a clear rhythmic beat

As you tap to this metre's

      Melodious feet.

Note:  (Metric feet in poetry):   A poetic foot is a basic repeated sequence of meter composed of two or more accented or unaccented syllables.  It puts poetry on a par with music and song.
