Bee on a Daisy

AS USEFUL AS A SIMILE IS

By Josie Whitehead

As Useful as a Simile

As busy as that busy bee
     That's landed on a flower.
As soft as raindrops falling
     From an early morning shower.

As black as coal that's burning
     With a crackling, blazing light.
As white as snow that's falling
From the dark and chilly night.

As dull as dishwater that sits
     Inside the kitchen sink.
As tasty as Mum's apple pie
     That's gone within a blink.

As bright as summer's sunshine
     That brightens up the day.
As dull as thick clouds overhead
That paint our world quite grey.

As noisy as the treetop is
     With boisterous, chattering birds
And as useful as these similes were

Which enhanced this poet's words.
