Genesis 1: ' And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.'

An excellent performance poem for 2 voices

Consider Earth's Fate

God said:

'I gave you my world – a good place to dwell;
The day and the night and the seasons as well.
I gave animals, plants, the birds and the bees.
With my love you were given a world that should please.'

But: ‘You chopped down my trees and polluted the air.
You killed living creatures without any care.
Making money was much more important to you –
Now tell me, you people, if this isn’t true!’

‘I gave you fresh air and the sun and the rain.
I gave you sweet fruit and good golden grain.
I gave rivers and lakes and oceans of blue –
And, tell me, you people, then what did you do?’

But: ‘Without second thoughts, you threw out your waste.
And the earth that I gave you is sadly defaced.
Your plastics are killing the fish in the sea.
Is this all the thanks that you’re giving to me?’

Today we can view our blue planet from space.
We see we’ve abused it with shameful disgrace.
If you’re reading my poem, consider Earth’s fate –
For it needs you to act now, before it’s too late!
