EMBRACING SPRING

By Josie Whitehead

Embracing Spring

Expand the day and change the clock;
Array the banks with ladies smock.
   Greet the snowdrops and cowslips;
   Remove cold winter’s dauntless grip.

Ignite the sun and heat the land;
Adorn the trees with blossom grand.
   Paint flowers in meadows with bright hues;
   Wake hedgehogs from their winter snooze.

Return new life to woodland glades;
Encourage plants that live in shade.
   As spring arrives with grace and charm,
   Let’s welcome her with open arms.
