Did you ever meet giggling Gertie?

    She giggled all day and all night.

When her poor little dog saw her coming

    He’d dash under the table with fright.

 

Her mother said: 'Stop all that giggling.

    You’ll feel so much better my dear,'

But it was obvious to all Gertie’s family

     She couldn’t and this was quite clear.

 

At night she would go to her bedroom.

     If you listened you’d hear Gertie snore.

Then after an hour she’d start giggling,

     And she’d giggle and giggle some more.

 

So the answer was clearly to visit

    The doctor to see what he’d do.

He said: 'This is very unusual

     And I'm not sure I know what to do.'

 

The poor doctor seemed very anxious

     And searched in his books for advice;

Then he said: 'Now open your mouth dear,

     And don’t worry.  This treatment is nice.'

 

Into her mouth went his fingers,

    Which wriggled and jiggled inside

Whilst her family all stood by astonished

     As he pulled out her giggle with pride.

 

He threw it right out of his window -

    Out into the wind and the wet -

But where did it go?  Shall I tell you?

     To the next silly girl that it met.
