HOP TILL YOU DROP

By Josie Whitehead

Hop Till You Drop

Two kangaroos stood in the blazing hot sun
And talked about having to hop:
'Humans have cars and can travel at speed
Whilst we kangas must hop till we drop.'

The first kangaroo looked down at his feet:
      'And humans wear comfortable shoes.
Whilst I have no say about what I can wear,
Those humans can pick and can choose.'

His friend quickly said: 'Oh, you think about this:
Those humans must go out to work
Whilst we kangas can just hop around in the sun.
Well, surely that’s more of a perk.

'Those poor human children are sent off to school
To learn how to write and to read.
No, the life of a kangaroo suits me just fine
And we've everything here that we need.'

A taxi arrived and stopped by these two
And it’s hard to believe what I saw:
Instead of some humans getting inside -
Two kangas got in - that's for sure!
