Winter Poems for Children

IN A SNOWMAN 'S WORLD

Out in the snow, where it’s bitterly cold,
Our wintry world the snowman beholds:
'In the world that I know, of ice and white snow,
The harsh winds are cruel. I’m sure you will know.'
The children all laugh - they play and they tease -
While icicles hang down from all of the trees.
'In the world that I know, of ice and white snow,
Human children have fun, their cold faces aglow.'
Inside human homes there are fires that burn bright,
But the snowman stays out in the cold all the night.
'In the world that I know, of ice and white snow,
The trees have no leaves and flowers never grow.'
He never sees summer, the beach or the sea
And he’ll not meet a butterfly, ant or a bee.
'In the world that I know, of ice and white snow,
The summer’s not kind to a snowman you know.'
Do you think he is happy in his world of white snow?
Well I think that tomorrow the snowman will go.
