IT'S LONG AFTER MIDNIGHT

By Josie Whitehead

It's Long After Midnight

It’s long after midnight
    And all are asleep.
In the moon’s silvery rays
    Little eyes start to peep.

Now, listen quite carefully!
    Hear the squeaking of doors?
Hear the whispering, giggling
    And pattering of paws?

You must keep your eyes closed
    And pretend you don’t hear.
It’s just teddy bears playing.
    You’ve nothing to fear!
