IT WAS SUCH A NICE PARTY

By Josie Whitehead

It Was Such a Nice Party

The day of the party came and then
We arrived at the house at ten past ten.
In the garden the table was set in the sun
And everyone seemed to be having such fun,

But the weather changed and it started to snow
But . . . It was such a nice party I’ll have you know.

The jelly was runny and the cake was stale.
In the salad I found a fat slimy snail.
The crisps were soft and the cheese was dry
And I think we had mouse droppings in the pie.

The dancing was fast and the music was slow,
But . . . It was such a nice party I’ll have you know.

Then when it was time for us all to leave -
Perhaps you may find this is hard to believe -
     But the wind blew their house far out into space;
In fact, it just vanished, without any trace.

How we laughed and we laughed as we watched it go
For . . .  It was such a nice party I’ll have you know.
