God said: *'Let there be light,' and there was light: – 
Bright light, sunshine, moonshine, twinkling stars. 
'And God saw that the light was good.'

God then divided the light from the darkness: 
He called the light 'day' and the darkness 'night'. 
'And God saw that the light was good.'

​

With the light came the warmth of sunshine 
Urging seeds to sprout and grow into plants – 
Light and warmth giving sustenance to living things.

  

There came fields of golden wheat for harvesting; 
Sparkling lights of sunshine on waves in the bay; 
Brilliantly coloured skies at sunrise and sunset.
 
Then human beings also said: 'Let there be light' -
Blackpool illuminations, Las Vegas at night lights
Shining into the sky like shimmering diamonds.

Thank God for the sunlight that brings us warmth.
Thank God for the moonlight and the stars -
Thank God for our eyes to see our world.

​

 . . . .   'And God saw that the light was good' -

                   And so do we.
