Omomatopoeia: = The sound of the noise reflected in the word used to describe it, eg pitter-patter; splashes, honk-honk etc.
THE VOICES OF NATURE

The brook on the hillside is babbling along.
The bird in the treetop sings a sweet song.
The wind quietly rustles the leaves on the trees
And what is that buzzing? It’s the buzzing of bees.
The rain pitter-patters on my window pane
But it splashes and gurgles when reaching the drain.
When angry, the wind howls and screams in distress
Whilst the sun’s warming fingers just silently bless.
A dog barks quite loudly when someone’s about,
Whilst humans, when angry, quite quickly will shout.
The sheep call their youngsters with a familiar bleat,
Whilst munching’s the sound you may hear when we eat.
The crashing of waves upon the sea-shore;
The wheezing and snuffling when anyone snores;
The call of the cuckoo says: 'Spring is now here.'
These voices of nature all come through our ears.
